Greenways & Trails
In May 2001, the Brevard Metropolitan Planning Organization adopted the Brevard County Greenways and Trails Master Plan. The Plan incorporates public comments and ideas collected during the Master Plan development and identifies the opportunities for a trail system that serves transportation, recreation and conservation needs. The MPO will be updating the Master Plan in 2006.

Bike/Ped Education
The MPO is committed to enhancing bicycle and pedestrian safety and quality of life in Brevard by providing opportunities for people of all ages to learn how to safely use bicycle and pedestrian facilities throughout Brevard. The MPO has a full-time staff person dedicated to this program.
The program includes working cooperatively with the Brevard County School Board to conduct in-school programs and with the community to conduct bicycle rodeos and safety fairs. The MPO also works with community partners to provide bicycle helmets to children throughout the year.

 Enhancements
Transportation Enhancements (TE) activities are funded under the Federal Surface Transportation Program (STP). Federal funds are allocated to the State of Florida, and programming decisions are made by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). When funds are available for programming (typically every 1 - 3 years), FDOT solicits project applications from local governments through the MPO.
There are twelve (12) categories of projects eligble to receive TE funds. In 2003 the Brevard MPO decided to concentrate enhancement project priorities on the implementation of the Greenways and Trails Master Plan. Below are the currently funded enhancement projects and priorities for future funding.
